The aim of this further training is to specialize at a high level. After completing the precisely regulated training program, a demanding examination must be passed before an international examination committee. After passing the examination, you are awarded "Diplomate" status.

Procedure of the residency program
The three years of residency are based on the requirements of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) according to the guidelines proposed in the Veterinary Surgery Residency Program (VSRP). Throughout the residency, the resident's clinical activities will be coordinated to allow time to acquire knowledge, engage in research and prepare for the ECVS examination at the end of the third year. The resident is expected to sit the ECVS examination after these three years. To do so, he or she must meet the requirements, i.e. have a correspondingly comprehensible documented surgical catalog as well as at least two publications and scientific presentations or participation in congresses. Further details can be found on theWebsite of the ECVS.
