PJ's Talk Title: Using language models of all sizes to identify disease signals in messy veterinary data

Professor Peter-John (PJ) Mäntylä Noble has worked at the University of Liverpool since 1992, progressing from clinical internship through PhD and post-doctoral research in gastric cell physiology to his current role as Professor and Internal Medicine Clinician. He co-founded the Small Animal Veterinary Surveillance Network (SAVSNET), now a major UK companion animal disease surveillance platform, and leads its AI/ML development programme, including domain-adapted transformer models (PetBERT, DogBERT) for clinical text classification used for disease and health surveillance, antimicrobial resistance and pharmacovigilance applications in veterinary medicine.
