We are delighted to have Mareike as invited speaker at the ECVPH Scientific Conference 2026.

Mareikes' Talk Title: Prospects and challenges in predicting spoilage in minced meat along the food chain

Mareike Wenning is leading the lab for Food Microbiology and Hygiene for southern Bavaria at the Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority (LGL) in Oberschleißheim. She graduated in Nutrition Science at the Technical University of Munich and holds a PhD and habilitation in Food Microbiology. Until 2018 she headed a research group at the Chair of Microbial Ecology of the Technical University of Munich focusing on microbial biodiversity in food and food processing environments as well as on bacterial taxonomy. At the LGL, her responsibilities cover several aspects of food safety: microbiological analysis of official food samples, investigation of food-borne outbreaks and development and implementation of analytical techniques. Mareike is, i. a., member of IDF and different ISO working groups.
