We are delighted to have Iurii as invited speaker at the ECVPH Scientific Conference 2026.

Iuriis' (joint) talk title: AI-based biosecurity measurements for conservation of endangered species

Iurii Savvateev earned his bachelor’s degree in physics from Saint Petersburg State University in Russia. With a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), he continued his master’s studies at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Germany, specializing in neuroscience. He later completed his PhD at ETH Zürich in Switzerland, working at the crossroads of engineering, data analysis and neuroscience. After completing his PhD, Iurii worked at the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) in Berlin as a software engineer, focusing on the rapidly developing fields of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and semantic web technologies.

Recently, Iurii joined the newly formed group “AI in Biosystems and One Health” at LMU Munich to continue his work in GenAI and large language models (LLMs), focusing on the design, prototyping and integration of LLM-based agentic systems into existing workflows. His work also includes data analysis using both classical machine learning and deep learning methods.

Iurii and his wife enjoy mountain skiing and indoor climbing in the winter, as well as tennis and cycling in the summer. Iurii holds an entry-level professional mountain ski certification in Switzerland
