ECVPH sets highest standards for specialist training in Veterinary Public Health in the two subspecialties Population Medicine and Food Safety – covering epidemiology, animal health and welfare, mitigation of food safety risks, and the protection of public health at the human–animal–environment interface. ECVPH specialists play a vital role in some of Europe’s most pressing health challenges – such as pandemic preparedness and response or assuring resilient, sustainable, and safe agrifood systems.
In 2025, the German ECVPH Residency Training Consortium was founded with the Competence Center for Food Safety (CCFS) at LMU as a founding member. It provides a structured residency training programme in Munich for both Food Safety and Population Medicine, accredited by the ECVPH.

Who we are
The main objective of the German ECVPH Residency Training Consortium is to provide a structured ECVPH residency training programme acknowledged by the European College for Veterinary Public Health. This is achieved by establishing a support and training network between ECVPH Diplomates located in Germany.
