The Equine Clinic offers a rotating internship (duration: 2 years, 50% workload).
German approbation is required, therefore knowledge of the German at a B2 level is required. You can find more information regarding the German approbation here.
It is possible to work on a dissertation concurrently and have the internship count toward Fachtierarzt training.
The start date is flexible depending on position availability; open positions are posted under Job advertisements.
General Information
- There are 6 internship positions at the Equine Clinic.
- The start date varies depending on available positions
- The internship lasts 2 years (24 months) as it only involves 50% clinical work
- If the intern has not previously been employed at the Equine Clinic, there will be a preceeding 2 month orientation time where the intern is employment on the basis of a research assistant (20 hours/week). Thereafter, the intern will be employed for 24 months at 30% of TV-L E14; participation in on-call duty is additionally compensated, bringing the total remuneration to approximately 50% of TV-L E14. An extension of the employment contract after 24 months is possible if desired by both parties.
Program
This is a rotating internship; the following departments of the Equine Clinic will be rotated through in varying proportions:
- Anesthesia
- Surgery, including ophthalmology, orthopedics, and imaging
- Internal medicine, including foal medicine
- Reproduction
- Emergency Medicine (experienced veterinarians and diplomates or FTA-certified veterinarians are always on-site or on call)
Responsibilities
- Clinical work in all disciplines of the equine clinic, including on-call duty
- Supervising rotating students and interns at the clinic
- Clinically oriented teaching (e.g., introductory clinical exercises)
