Laboratory Services

Rapid diagnostics right on-site - for urgent issues, monitoring progress, and making targeted treatment decisions.

In our in-house emergency laboratory, we can promptly determine key laboratory values right here at the clinic. This allows us to quickly obtain crucial information about your horse’s health and optimally tailor diagnostics, treatment, and follow-up care.

Laboratory tests are particularly helpful in emergencies, for inpatients, and in close coordination with referring veterinarians.

Among other things, we offer the following tests directly on-site:

  • Hematocrit and total protein determination
  • Complete blood count, including differential blood count
  • Analysis of specific body fluids
  • Clinical chemistry, such as organ, muscle, kidney, liver, and metabolic parameters
  • Blood gas analysis (in-house and mobile)
  • Electrolyte, glucose, and lactate determination
  • Triglyceride measurement
  • IgG testing in foals
  • SAA rapid test as an inflammatory marker
  • Leptospira antibody rapid test
  • Rapid tests/PCR diagnostics for selected pathogens, for example:
    • EHV-1/4
    • EHV-2/5
    • Streptococcus equi ssp. equi
    • Salmonella
    • Equine influenza
  • Cytological examinations with rapid staining and microscopic evaluation
  • Digital cytology with pathological evaluation within a few hours
  • Urinalysis
  • Fecal examinations for endoparasites
  • Rotavirus rapid test
  • Orthobiological/regenerative therapy methods:
    • Autologous Conditioned Serum (ACS)
    • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

For more complex or specialized issues, we work closely with other laboratories at LMU as well as with selected external specialty laboratories. This allows us to promptly arrange additional tests as needed and cover a broad diagnostic spectrum.
