Neuer Therapieansatz bei Headshaking - Studienteilnehmer gesucht!
Headshaking ist eine Erkrankung beim Pferd, die sich durch persistierende oder intermittierende, spontane, sich wiederholende und meist vertikale Bewegungen von Kopf und Hals auszeichnet. Oftmals ist das Headshaking auf eine Neuropathie des Trigeminusnervs zurückzuführen (so genanntes Trigeminus-mediiertes Headshaking). Therapeutisch war bisher keine Methode ausnahmslos erfolgreich.
In der Humanmedizin wird seit einigen Jahren die repetitive Magnetstimulation (rTMS) als Behandlungsmethode angewandt. Damit wurden gute Erfolge erzielt und auch längerfristige Schmerzfreiheit erreicht. In einer vorherigen Studie konnten wir zeigen, dass rTMS auch bei Pferden zu einem Behandlungserfolg führte, jedoch war dieser nur von kurzer Dauer.

In der Folgestudie geht es nun darum, zu evaluieren, ob eine höhere Stimulationsintensität zu einem länger dauernden Effekt führt.

Hämosiderophagen sind Makrophagen nach der Phagozytose von Erythrozyten. Hämosiderin ist ein eisenhaltiger Proteinkomplex, der intrazellulär als Abbauprodukt des Hämoglobins (dem roten Blutfarbstoff) nach Blutungen in der Lunge entsteht. Der Goldstandard zum Nachweis dieser Zellen ist eine bronchoalveoläre Lavage in der „Berlin-blau“-Färbung. Ziel dieser Studie ist es in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Labor EquiZyt UG zu untersuchen, ob ebenfalls das Tracheobronchialsekret eine Alternative bei der Diagnostik von Hämosiderophagen darstellen könnte. Zudem wird jede Probe sowohl in der standardmäßig angewandten „DiffQuick“-Färbung als auch in der Spezialfärbung für Eisen „Berlin-blau“ beurteilt, um die Erkennungsrate beider Färbungen miteinander zu vergleichen.
