Hearing test

The recording of brainstem potentials is offered as a reliable method for the diagnosis of congenital and acquired hearing disorders. The examination is usually carried out under light sedation. A Viking Quest (Viasys®) device is available for the examination. Both the left and right ear can be stimulated separately with one click using headphones. The brainstem potentials generated by the electrical processing of the acoustic stimulus in the inner ear are then recorded via two electrodes at the base of the ear and at the vertex. The examination can be carried out from the age of 6-8 weeks.
